Neon Lights of Lucio Fontana in Milan

EXHIBITION

You won’t believe your eyes! Bright colors, neon lights and luminous installations that alter your visual and physical perception of space and time is now on show in Milan. Stunning “Environments” exhibition of Lucio Fontana’s works will bring you through surreal sequence of spaces: from totally dark and soft-lined,  to dazzling, monochrome, seemingly infinite, or even tight and anxious nine rooms.

Lucio Fontana (1899-1968) who created the majority of the works on display over a half of century ago considered today as one of the most innovative artists of the 20th century. Yes, he is the one who introduced the 3rd dimension into painting courageously cutting his canvas.

At Hangar Bicocca however you won’t see his “cuts”. But you will see something better: artist’s pioneer works based on the use of neon light and fluorescent paint that anticipated the revolutionary Light and Space movement of the 1960s and 1970s in the United States.

You will see in fact Fontana’s nine experimental installations known as “Ambienti Spaziali” that merge into one painting, sculpture and architecture, and shift the idea of space from a simple plastic form toward a full-immersion experience. Nine works that will take you on a trip into imaginary world made of light rather than of matter.

Don’t miss it! You have time till February 25, 2018.
