Picasso: Tracing a Life, an Artist

Schedule and Tickets

ART EXHIBIT
September 22, 2017 through January 21, 2018

To map out the life of an artist, their birthplace, the places they lived and visited and even the places they dreamed of visiting are all that must be considered. But to map out an influence on art itself and the disciplines beyond is a true once in a lifetime experience. To offer such an experience seems like a dream to those who admire and love the work of Pablo Picasso.  Nevertheless, seeing Picasso’s multidisciplinary journey, travels and influence is exactly what the Picasso-Méditerranée Project attempts to do. The project created by the Picasso-Paris National Museum spans the Mediterranean region as a cross-collaboration between 60 institutions. The portion exhibit Picasso: Between Cubism and Classicism: 1915-1925 opens September 22nd at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome.

For the exhibit in Rome, the focus is on Picasso’s journey to Italy in 1917 and his work after, along with his foray into scenic and costume design and collaboration between Jean Cocteau and others. Not only does the exhibit focus on his works, but also the particular methods he employed, his personal life and transformations at the time and effect his Italian experience had on his work and his collaborations. The project itself hopes to publish a paper after it concludes in 2018.

The portion of this exhibit runs September 22, 2017 through January 21, 2018. Please contact Cultural Italy for tickets or to book your tour to include this stop.
