Brera Art Gallery Tour

Itinerary Details

Guided visit to the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, one of the most famous and important Italian museums. The gallery is primarily a great gallery of ancient paintings. Yet, it also retains a select group of works of artistic creation of 19th Century and of advanced and classical art, particularly Italian, with famous masterpieces by Piero Della Francesca, Giovanni Bellini, Mantegna, Raphael (see picture of Wedding of a Virgin), Tintoretto and Caravaggio. The assemblage of 19th Century paintings includes important works of Francesco Hayez, Giovanni Fattori, Volpedo, Medardo Rosso, Amedeo Modigliani, Carlo Carrà. Umberto Boccioni, Giorgio Morandi, and Philip de Pisis also stand out with some of their greatest masterpieces.
The area surrounding the Pinacoteca di Brera with the magnificent church of San Marco is one of the oldest areas of town and is today one of the most distinctive and fascinating ones, brimming with history, art and culture.
Infact there are many art galleries and historic bar with outdoor tables: they were once "literary cafes" frequented by artists and students of the Academy. And in the evening you can also find numerous fortune tellers who for a few euros will read your hand.
