Step Back in Time
Did You Know... The largest lake island located on Lake Iseo, Monte Isola has no cars on the island, making this a destination taking you back in time. At about 4.9 square miles and population around 1100, public bus transportation can take you around the island. But some destinations are only accessible walking, bicycling or driving scooters. One of these, Madonna della Ceriola, is at the highest point of the island. Pass through ancient fishing villages to see fisherman building their fishing and hunting nets. Follow the olive trees to the south to visit Sensole. Find Siviano and nearby Martinengo Tower. In September, the streets are decorated with flowers during Holy Cross week.
" Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life — and travel — leaves marks on you." ~Anthony Bourdain~
