Samacitta YOGA Retreat at La Rosa dei 4 Venti, PUGLIA, ITALY with Monica Marini & Katrina Johnston

Samacitta YOGA Retreat at La Rosa dei 4 Venti, PUGLIA, ITALY with Monica Marini & Katrina Johnston

23-30 JUNE, 2018

Monica Marini is an advanced yoga practitioner who has been practicing, studying and developing her understanding & application of yoga for more than 20 years. She has developed a unique and creative style of practice for a diverse range of students and levels called YogaMorphic.  Monica offers focused, caring guidance towards a safe, yet dynamic practice.
Her focus is the therapeutic application of asana (physical postures) and pranayama (breath regulation) for a more integrated experience of the body-mind. Principles of Vinyasa Krama (effective and safe sequencing) inform the sequencing of Vinyasa and Yoga Flow classes, for an energising practice.
Traditional postures of Hatha Yoga are infused with the clarity and precision of the Iyengar method to offer students the opportunity to experience for themselves how Yoga can restore physical and mental wellbeing.  Monica’s intention is for your to enjoy your yoga practice.  She teaches at three centres in the UK in Kent and is ambassador and consultant teacher/organiser of the Whitstable Yoga Festival.

Katrina Johnston is a highly experienced bodywork practitioner  with a gift for getting to true essence and allowing for embodiment on the table.

“Bodywork is not a massage; it is therapy for the body and therefore works right into your spirit, soul, your well-being. Katrina makes it feel like a shared experience and an art-form. Both during and afterwards, I felt held, protected and a powerful sense of connection to my feelings. She has great strength yet gentleness in how she works through your body in a responsive way intuiting which part to focus attention on. It was for me a unique experience and I would highly recommend Katrina.”
~Kate - Italy, August 2017

Twice daily yoga with a stronger practice in the morning and in the afternoon/evening asana a more gentle, slow & deeper practice with longer holds in posture.  Monica will also explore the more subtle elements of yoga practice – like yoga nidra (relaxation) & meditation, mudras, bandas & mantra or chanting - where time allows.
One half day off in the middle of the week to allow you to explore a typical Salento town nearby and to go for a swim in the crystal clear ocean and relax on the white sand if you wish to.

The venue has been exquisitely converted from a traditional Puglian ‘masseria’ into what is now a unique and dedicated yoga holiday and retreat venue that is solely for yoga practice and meditation and holistic therapies, which comes complete with a tiny chapel, a wooden floored yoga shala and extensive grounds and beautiful accommodation in white-washed stone buildings and trulli-style white conical buildings typical to the Apulia region of Southern Italy with surrounding green views and hand-made dry-stone walls.

This 15-hectare property is situated on a small hillock in the heart of the Itria Valley in the heel of Italy’s boot with nearest international airports Brindisi and Bari.

Each bedroom is unique, full of character and comes with en suite bathroom.

The masseria comfortably accommodates 10 people with their own room or up to 16 with some sharing and some single occupancy rooms. Some bedrooms are in the main house and some in the trullis. Freedom and simplicity are at the heart of this yoga retreat space.

The landscape is scenic and rural and is dotted with beautiful olive trees and vineyards, divided by the pretty dry-stone walls. Between the lovely gardens, swimming pool, 15 hectares of grounds, including home-grown vegetables and gardens of wild woods and fields, there are iconic stone statues and sitting out places to relax and contemplate, ancient and sacred olive trees and a tiny chapel with frescoes and much sacred history, together with many places in the grounds in which to explore and to have time to be free and at one with Nature and with yourself.

There is delicious chef-cooked vegetarian food, with local produce staying true to season and to the surroundings, including traditional recipes of Puglia, served straight from farm-to-table.

The retreat chef can cater to any reasonable special dietary requirements, but she does need prior notice at the time of booking.
