Jewish Tour of Rome

Itinerary Details

Trastavere, which translates, “across the river” houses a small, but ancient Jewish community.  Residents of the city since 161 B.C., this sect overcame the Maccabean Revolt against Antiochus to settle here in Rome. Since 1555, The Jewish Ghetto has been a symbol of hope and perseverance.  Stoic and beautiful, the buildings stand as brothers in faith against hardships.  This Phoenix once again rises up and creates herself anew with the changing times.
