Vatican, Sistine Chapel & St. Peter's Basilica Tour

Itinerary Details

The smallest nation in the world hosts some of the best art on the planet.  There are over 2,000 rooms filled with artifacts from human history from the ancient Egyptians to modern day.  The crowning jewel of this museum is Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel.  Your tour guide will give you insight into the massive undertaking’s history, meaning and symbolism.  Through the corridor, you will continue to another of Michelangelo’s masterpiece, “La Pieta.”  Located in the corner of St. Peter’s Basilica, it is an icon beyond all measure. The only piece that Michelangelo signed, you can see his signature along the sash of the Blessed Mother as she cradles her dead Son.  Inside the basilica, stand in front of the Throne of Peter, and see the optical illusions Bernini used to create this majestic piece.  The bones of Peter himself rest as a footstool to the throne, culminating one of the greatest icons of Christendom.
