Castello di Velona is a 5-star resort located on top of a hill in Montalcino in a renovated fortress dating back from the 11th century, overlooking the olive trees and vineyards of Val d’Orcia. The castle is less than 5 miles from Montalcino, where the famous Brunello is produced, and not far from the famous towns of Siena, Pienza and Montepulciano.
OLISPA is its unique wellness and relaxation center, offering personalized treatments in its over 16,000 squared feet area. The Spa features a special cabin for couples, a Wet Area with 2 Turkish baths and private bath with Jacuzzi, a panoramic sauna, ice fountain and the emotional showers. There is also a larger circular pool connected by a small tunnel to the outdoor pools and a gym with Technogym equipment.
Castello di Velona offers also extraordinary culinary experiences thanks to the presence of 6 restaurants (3 inside the Resort and 3 outside). The rustic Il Brunello Restaurant, located in the historical part of the castle, offers traditional Tuscan cuisine served in an elegant space with an antique fireplace and featuring a panoramic terrace for the summer days. Settimo Senso Restaurant is in the Resort’s new wing and has a modern setting, offering a sensory journey with a unique cuisine inspired by the Italian and Tuscan culinary traditions. There is also the Dolce Vita Pool Restaurant for a quick drink, aperitif or snack next to the swimming pool and the wellness area. The Resort has a partnership with 3 external restaurants, 2 of which are Michelin Restaurant, Da Caino and Il Silene. Guests can also enjoy tasting the Brunello di Montalcino produced in the estate’s vineyards and the Resort’s own extra virgin olive oil in the wine cellar located in the millennial tower.
The Resort has a total of 45 rooms, all featuring breathtaking views over the Val d’Orcia and the Brunello di Montalcino vineyards. The rooms are divided into Castle Rooms, located in the main building, and UNESCO View Rooms, located in the walls of the Castle, offering a stunning sunset view.
The Castle Rooms are in the monumental upper part of the Castle and enhance the architectural features of the original structure, such as cotto tiled floors, vaulted ceilings and exposed beams.
The UNESCO Rooms instead have a comtemporary design and exclusive features like the thermal water in the bathtub. Are located in the lower wing of the castle and some of them have an in-room private treatment booth with separate entrance for the therapists, who will not interfere with the privacy of the room.
Superior Room (215-344 square feet): located in the original area of the Middle Age Fortress and finely furbished in an elegant and warm Tuscan style, have a partial panoramic view over the Val d’Orcia and marble bathroom.
Deluxe Room (269-344 square feet): have characteristic architectural elements of the original structure such as terracotta floors, table, armchair and chairs, wrought iron bed, to which are added elements of style and modernity, and a marble bathroom.
Suite (430-592 square feet): featuring the original structure of the castle, with terracotta floors and ceilings with exposed beams and style elements, are equipped with a marble bathrooms, a living room separated from the sleeping area, many also with a fireplace.
Balcony Junior Suite (322-538 square feet): located both in the main building and in the belt of the castle walls, some feature stylish interiors with period furnishings, terracotta floors and vaulted ceilings or exposed beams, others are instead more modern in style with King-size beds. All have a private furnished balcony. Some have a Jacuzzi, others have thermal water for the tub.
Family Suite (861-1614 square feet): Arranged on two levels, feature two separated bedrooms, a living room and a wide area with marble bathrooms. Elegantly furnished with antique furniture and elements that recall the Tuscan tradition such as exposed beams, terracotta floors and large decorative fireplace. There is also a more modern Family Suite with a King-size bed, a separate bedroom with a French bed plus a double sofa bed, a large bathroom, a walk-in closet and a terrace.
UNESCO View Terrace Junior Suite (430-592 square foot): located inside the Monumental part of the castle walls, are characterized by contemporary design, with King-size beds and bathtubs with the thermal water. All have a private patio/garden The bathrooms are entirely in travertine.
UNESCO View Terrace Suite (592 square feet): located in the contemporary and modern wing of the castle, have a large private patio/garden. With a separate bedroom from the living room, are furnished with a linear and contemporary style with warm references to the Tuscan tradition. The bathrooms are entirely in travertine.
UNESCO View Terrace Royal Suite (861 square feet): located in a wing of the castle, features a spacious bedroom with King-size bed, a separated living room furnished in a linear and contemporary style, with warm references to Tuscan tradition, and a big private garden overlooking the wineyards. It also has a separate room to receive relaxation treatments with a separate entrance for the Spa therapist. The big bathroom, with a spacious walk-in closet, is entirely in travertine.
Pool Terrace Suite (861 square feet): located in the Ancient South Tower of the castle, it has a large private terrace with a large pool of pure hot thermal water. The elegant interiors are divided between the sleeping area, with a comfortable Queen-size bed, and the large living room. It is characterized by Florentine terracotta tiles, large historical decorative fireplace, ceilings with exposed beams and panoramic windows. It can be connected with the Castle Family Suite on the upper floor of the tower for families of up to 8 members, becoming an apartment of 2368 square feet.
Pool Terrace Apartment (3336 square feet): it is made of 2 connecting rooms, the Pool Terrace Suite and the Family Suite, joined by a staircase with an exclusive private entrance.
UNESCO View Terrace Royal Apartment (1292 square feet): it is made of 2 connecting rooms, the UNESCO View Terrace Royal Suite and the UNESCO Family Junior Suite, joined by a private corridor with an exclusive private entrance.
