Wow, what a trip! Thank you so much for putting together such a wonderful package. From the moment we were picked up at the airport (the poor driver had to wait well over an hour for us because our luggage took so long to arrive), everything went like clockwork. The first driver (his name escapes me at the moment) was a delight. He suggested we eat at a restaurant at the base of the Spanish Steps called Larampa. We ate there twice…wonderful. In the afternoon, Alexandro and Paula picked us up and gave a great overview of the city. They suggested Giggetto for dinner. We loved it. The next day we wandered around the city. The next morning Simone picked us up to head out to Umbria. We both loved him. He explained the areas and history and always suggested super places to stop for lunch. It is understandable that you wanted us to have him as our driver and guide. He is a very good driver and always professional and considerate. The hotels you suggested were perfect. The Hassler was elegant and so convenient. The Savoy in Florence was as well. Our little place in Bevagna got off to a bit of a rough start……they started to take us up to a 3rd or 4th floor room when I said……not for me….too many steps for my out of shape body. They gave us a darling “apartment” just over their restaurant. Unfortunately Kim kept bumping his head on the low ceiling beams and low door way….. But…. we adjusted and ended up loving our little Bevagna. We probably should have eaten in their restaurant but ended up eating at another place in town…twice. The Villa Mangiacane is very elegant and in a stunning area. Our room had a bathroom equal in size to our room. We had a huge round tub which was great for a long hot soak. We ended up having stormy weather while we were there…..until the day we left when it got sunny and warmer.
