Dear Fiorella and Franca
We had a fantastic time! Our guides and drivers were wonderful – knowledgeable, patient, and attentive to our needs, especially my mother’s. They were very flexible and made sure that we got the most out of every experience, even when the weather didn’t cooperate. We truly appreciated your assistance and flexibility in rescheduling tours and transfers when Lynn and Anna’s travel plans went awry. The accommodations, as well, were fantastic, and conveniently located. The Trapani location, Guardini Mon Plaisir, was outside the city center, but taxis were easy to get, and the host, Agostino, could not have been more hospitable and helpful with suggestions for dinner and additional activities.
Our only disappointment was Partanna itself. The church, a major attraction, was closed because the priest was in Rome, and the cemetery was closed, likely due to the holiday. In addition, the local guide wasn’t very helpful, and sort of rushed us through the museum. (He kept urging us from room to room with “Andiamo, ladies!”). I think it would have been great to hear a little more about the local history in the museum. It was also raining a bit, so we didn’t really get to see much of anything. Our driver, Alessio, bought us pastries and coffees, and before we knew it, we were back on the road to Agrigento.
If we were to do this again, I think we would have tried to stay nearby, perhaps at some agrotourism spot in the Partanna area, and have a clearer plan to visit the church and cemetery. Overall, though, it was a minor disappointment in what was, overall, a fantastic trip. My mom loved it, and if anything, we are inspired to see more of Sicily and the other regions from which our family came.
