July 2015
Hi Roberta,
As you know, Pat sent a review to Zicasso, and I’m sending you a short note with our reactions. Well, it was wonderful. I don’t need to tell you of the beauty of Venice or the art and architecture of Florence. I had traveled all around Italy and Sicily when I was young, and stayed in Florence for 6 months. I had not been back since, and Pat had never traveled in Italy (aside from a fast drive from Brindisi up to Switzerland, seeing little). I brushed up on my (limited) Italian before we left and enjoyed using it, though I was disappointed that we seldom needed to, as we were in the tourist industry centers.
It was all we had hoped for. We walked and walked — and made memories that Pat and I can share. We both love to eat, and love Italian food. Three restaurants you recommended come to mind — Fiaschetteria Toscana in Venice (grilled branzino, mmm), Da Tasso in Sorrento, and Da Natalino in Florence — we enjoyed them all. Some of our fondest memories are of eating at restaurants on the Fondamente Zattere or Fondamente Nove in Venice and gazing over the water at such beauty. If we return, we will definitely do that again.
Thank you so much for facilitating the trip, changing reservations when we changed our plans for how long we were staying at each place, and re-booking our tour date when Pat was sick for a day. Everything was so smooth that we were able to use our time well and concentrate on our activities. Your work and knowledge were much appreciated.
Sue and Pat
