SEPTEMBER 2018
Buon Giorno Liliana,
Well we are back after our whirlwind tour of Italy. We are joyfully exhausted. It was beyond our expectations. We saw and did so much it was hard to keep things separate.
Rome was amazing and so historic. We loved seeing the Vatican and the Coliseum. We learned so much. The driving in Rome had me really amazed. So very different than where we live. I couldn’t do it. It was very scary to me, but even more so in Positano.
Speaking of Positano, that was the highlight of the trip for me. It was breathtaking and the cruise to Capri was so much fun. Best of all was the cooking class at Villa Margherita. The family was so welcoming and hospitable. We couldn’t have had a better time cooking and sharing stories with them. My husband hadn’t spoken Italian in 20 years and in speaking with them, he felt so comfortable that it all came back to him and he had a great time conversing and learning all about their lives. Their home was amazing with the pizza oven on the patio overlooking the most gorgeous sight I had ever seen. Margherita and her mother were amazing hostesses and did everything to help us experience the true Positano lifestyle. Her daughter and niece were so cute and so helpful. It brought back many memories for Margaret and myself growing up in Italian families and experiencing that closeness again.
The hotel in Naples was amazing and the accommodations were definitely 5 star. We spent the evenings in the rooftop jacuzzi and the breakfasts, also served on the rooftop, were fabulous. We had Aperol Spritzes in every city we went to and the espresso was superb. I tried every kind of pasta in every city and still managed to lose 5 lbs. from all the walking we did. What a great diet.
I cannot thank you enough for planning such an amazing trip for us. It is something we will never forget.
I will send pictures in a separate attachment.
Thanks again,
Sandra and Salvatore Cumella
