Spoleto Music Festival – Festival dei Due Mondi
2022 Calendar of Events

Various venus

Held each summer in Spoleto, the Festival dei Due Mondi was started in 1958 by the composer Gian Carlo Menotti. The festival is known for its varied offerings including concerts, operas, ballet, and art.

“Dreamy meditations in front of marvelous facades of warm stones gilded by the sun of centuries, walks through the surrounding countryside or on the mountains scattered with villas and sanctuaries, lingering on the city’s belvederes refreshed by the evening breezes, nocturnal wanderings through the deserted and obscure alleys, all this that usually forms the enchantment of ancient medieval cities, Spoleto can offer it in surplus to the performances of the festival. Gian Carlo Menotti, electing the Umbrian city as the seat of his festival, has undoubtedly relied on these attractions”.

– Alberto Moravia, 1958
