MILAN DESIGN WEEK
Design for Everyone: Also for kids and not only for hipsters
Milan Design week is not for everybody? You are wrong. Even kids are welcome here. Still don’t believe it? Then visit La Triennale’s Giro Giro Tondo to discover the most baby friendly design museum ever.
If you are in Milan during the next week, you must be either very well informed or simply an extremely lucky person. On Tuesday April, 4 the city will kick-off its famous Design Week known better as Salone Internazionale del Mobile. Designers, architects, artists, buyers and design enthusiasts will lash here from every continent to see and to show the best of the furniture world.
The whole design week in Milan is split into two huge chapters. The first one, Salone, takes place at the RHO Fiera which gathers together the BIGs of the world of furnishing and lighting. The second one, Fuorisalone, is instead open for everyone and its almost always free sequence of exhibitions run all over the city center. The famous La Triennale is, of course, a part of the Fuorisalone events not to miss.
If you travel to Milan with kids, La Triennale Design Museum is the place to be. Inaugurated last Friday, it hosts a huge collection of vivid colors, playful forms, animal shapes, & unexpected functions of radical furniture pieces. Entitled Giro Giro Tondo, the whole design story of TDM is dedicated this year to design for children.
After having wandered through the museum, watched cartoons, drawn on a huge wall with chalk, red some intriguing baby stories, don’t miss the real playroom designed for your kids. A good moment for the little ones & relax time for their parent.
