The Garden of Wonders in the Heart of Milan: from Milano Design Week to Expo-2015
Throughout the last weeks Milan has turned into the centre of cutting-edge design. Salone (International Furniture Fair at Rho Fiera) & Fuorisalone (in-city collateral events) or, more simply, Milano Design Week 2015 made this city, as always, the capital of innovation and fresh ideas in the field of interior design and architecture.
Although the majority of ad-hoc MDW exhibitions and connected happenings expired with the end of the Milano Design Week, some others remain open to public waiting for EXPO-2015. In fact, many Fuorisalone events, especially those related to “food & flavors”, are bridging the two major episodes of Milan of 2015 through their everyday presence.
L’Orto Botanico di Brera and its “Garden of wonders: journey through scents” is one of such must-see installations.
This Brera garden itself is a beautiful place worth to be seen by any Milano guest. Back to 1774 it was founded by famous Maria Theresa, the sovereign of Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Bohemia, Mantua, Milan and Parma, and, by marriage, the Duchess of Lorraine, Grand Duchess of Tuscany and Holy Roman Empress. And today it represent a unique heritage: a 5000 sq. mt. hortus containing about 300 different species.
During Fuorisalone week, this green oasis located at a 10-minutes-walking distance from Duomo di Milano, has turned into a park with temporary small pavilions managed by world-famous designers that have reinterpreted in their own particular styles the evolution of perfume. Just to name some, one can discover there works of Lissoni Associati, Nendo, Dimorestudio, Ludovico + Roberta Palomba and many other famed names.
L’Orto Botanico di Brera and its perfumery installations will stay open till May 24th.
