JUNE 2016
Good morning, cara Nicoletta,
I have been meaning to sit down and write to you since we returned from our glorious trip to Italy. It was everything I had hoped for and more. All three of the local guides, Luca, Laura, and Nadia were friendly, knowledgeable and so ready to accommodate us—especially me with my limitations. The same can be said for the driver and guide on our tour of the Chianti wine country, Jonathan. He was especially accommodating, taking the time to point out various points of personal interest to my sons who are interested in the bike races taking place at this time of year. I lost count of the number of times he pulled off the road to allow Dino and Michael to get out and take pictures. The driver we had on our trip out to Itri, etc., was equally accommodating, making a last minute change in our plan for that day to take us to a church in Formia that has special meaning for me instead of making the trip to Selvacava. Visiting that church, La Chiesa della Madonna Maria Ciivita is one of two highlights of the trip for me —my grandmother, who died before I was born, was named Maria Civita and I am named after her. The second highlight and the major one for Dino and Michael was seeing David. I will never for get my sons’ reaction to that heat master piece.
I have been to Rome, Florence and Venice several times before and I have never had more interesting and comprehensive description of the monumental sites in these places. This is especially true in Florence, which I have visited at least half a dozen times and yet found Laura’s discussion to be extraordinary.
There is so much more to say about all the services. I know you said we would talk after I had time to settle back into my daily routine—I look forward to reliving the trip with you on the telephone. It has been a pleasure to work with you too and I am a little sad that I did not know of your company before this as, I believe i have told you, Italy is my favorite vacation spot.
Once again, grazie mille.
Maria LaFiandra
