DAY 1: ARRIVE IN ROME
Upon arrival at Rome Fiumicino airport meet your driver for transfer to the ancient Roman town of Vasto, located on the Adriatic Coast, in the Abruzzo Region. Check in at your hotel, in the historical downtown. Meet your guide and learn more about this trip and the days ahead. Welcome dinner in a traditional restaurant in the heart of Vasto. Overnight stay.
DAY 2: PASTA COOKING WITH MAMMA & VASTO HISTORICAL CENTER
Breakfast at the hotel. Cooking class by Mamma. Learn how to make fresh pasta and her favorite sauces. A sample menu includes bruschette with meat sauce, pasta alla chitarra with meat sauce and meatballs, cavatelli with vegetables and tarallucci, typical biscuits from Abruzzo (the menu can change based on seasonal availability). Lunch to follow. In the afternoon, explore Loggia Amblingh, a promenade overlooking the fascinating crescent-shaped coastline, the old town with its medieval Castle, the Cathedral and Piazza Rossetti.
Following the tour, meet some local artisans. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3: FISH COOKING CLASS & SAN GIOVANNI ABBEY
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, weather permitting, fish cooking class on a trabocco, a fishing platform, builted mostly from acacia wood and railway iron sleepers.
Rinaldo, your host, will show you how to fish and tell you the secrets and history behind Abruzzo’s unique fishing platforms. His wife, Maria, will teach the cooking class using freshly caught fish from the Adriatic. A sample menu: marinated fresh anchovies, mariner’s-style clams, octopus in tomato sauce with polenta, stuffed mussels, fish soup and pizzelle (typical sweet cookies from Abruzzo) with home-made fruit jam.
After lunch free time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Continue with the visit of the charming San Giovanni in Venere Abbey, dominating the coastline. Dinner in a traditional restaurant in the heart of Vasto. Overnight stay.
DAY 4: GRAPE HARVEST – WINE & OLIVE OIL TASTINGS
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to a local winery. Once there walk through the vineyards and help harvest the grapes. Then, visit the cellars and enjoy a wine tasting followed by a picnic lunch among the vineyards. Continue with a visit to La Selvotta Olive Grove that has been farmed by Giovanni’s family for 3 generations and produce DOP olive oil.
Learn the secrets of the process followed by an olive oil tasting. Dinner in a traditional restaurant in the heart of Vasto. Overnight stay.
DAY 5: SHEEP RICOTTA MAKING & ROCCASCALEGNA MEDIEVAL CASTLE
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet Pina and Dino and their farm where they will reveal the secrets of sheep farming and show how to milk a sheep. After a cheese snack, learn how to prepare ricotta cheese in the creamery. A delicious traditional lunch will be prepared and served, where you can savor the recently prepared ricotta. In the afternoon, explore the enchanting Abruzzo’s castle of Roccascalegna.

DAY 6: PIZZA & TIRAMISU’ MAKING
Breakfast in hotel. Morning at leisure. Free time to shop, or to discover one of the many beaches, or to take part to some extra activities/excursions. Lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, join a pizza cooking class that includes the teaching of traditional bruschette and tiramisù. Overnight stay.
DAY 7: DEPARTURE
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to your next destination or to Roma airport and departure. Arrivederci!
