DAY 1: ARRIVE IN PALERMO
Upon arrival at Palermo airport, private transfer to your centrally located hotel and check in. Enjoy a nice dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight stay.
DAY 2: PALERMO AND MONREALE TOUR
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your private guide for a tour of Palermo and Monreale. Discover this incredible city with its many influences. Founded by the Phoenicians, named it by the ancient Greeks and ruled by the Arabs and Normans, Palermo is a city full of flavor and mixed cultures. After, visit Monreale, famous for its incredible beautiful cathedral where you can admire the largest cycle of Byzantine mosaics in Italy. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay.
DAY 3: THE HILLTOP VILLAGE OF ERICE AND GREEK RUINS OF SEGESTA
Breakfast at the hotel. Join your English speaking guide and private driver on a full day excursion to discover the two historical towns of western Sicily: Erice and Segesta. First visit the hilltop village of Erice, a medieval walled town that reigns over the picturesque harbor of Trapani. After lunch in a local restaurant, continue to Segesta, an historical town associated with the ancient Elymian people.
Visit the greek ruins and discover the majesty of the Doric temple, a 5th-century structure that boasts panoramic vistas over the hilly valleys. Return to your hotel. Overnight stay.
DAY 4: AGRIGENTO VALLEY OF TEMPLES
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure transfer to Agrigento where you will meet your guide for a walking tour of the Valley of the Temples. Excavated and partially restored, this area contains some of the best preserved ancient Greek buildings outside Greece itself and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to Piazza Armerina for visiting of Villa Romana del Casale, one of the most precious jewels bequeathed to Sicily by Roman civilization. The villa is an extraordinary testament to Roman life, thanks to its beautiful mosaics. Continue to Caltarigione. Check in at your hotel and overnight stay.
DAY 5: FROM GREEK RUINS TO BAROQUE
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning transfer to Syracuse with a stop in Ragusa. Walking tour of Ragusa Ibla, the baroque historical center, followed by wine tasting and lunch. Continue to Noto, considered the most beautiful baroque town of Sicily. Continue your journey towards Siracusa, a magnificient example of Magna Grecia culture and art and the birthplace of Archimedes. Overnight stay.
DAY 6: ORTIGIA ISLAND AND TAORMINA
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning walking tour of the island of Ortigia, the small baroque old city centre of Siracusa: visit of the Cathedral, which is built upon the site of the Temple of Minerva, the legendary Arethuse Fountain and the Temple of Apollo. Continue to Neapolis Archaeological Park, the Roman Amphitheater and the “Ear of Dionysius”. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon transfer to Taormina. Check in at your hotel and overnight stay.
DAY 7: TAORMINA AND GREEK THEATRE
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet you guide and visit Taormina, also known as the “Jewel of the Ionian Sea”. Visit the Greek Theatre, one of the most celebrated ruins in Sicily. From there enjoy a breathtaking view of the Mount Etna and the Gulf of Giardini Naxos as well as the island Isola Bella off the coast of Taormina. Afternoon and evening at leisure. Return to Taormina. Overnight stay.
DAY 8 : MOUNT ETNA DISCOVERY
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning visit of Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. During the tour explore the less known northern part by 4×4 Jeeps and reach the altitude of 9186 feet (warm clothes recommended). Afterward we’ll head on to a wine cellar, where you will visit the vineyard and production facilities and eventually taste ETNA DOC wines and Sicilian specialties. Lunch in Mount Etna area at a local restaurant. Return to Taormina. Overnight stay.
DAY 9: UNESCO AEOLIAN ARCHIPELAGO
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning departure to Milazzo and start a full day private excursion to the Islands of Vulcano & Lipari (weather permitting), two must-see islands of the stunning Unesco-listed Aeolian Archipelago. Arrive first in Lipari where you will have some free time to shop in the island’s flower-filled streets and to stroll around the idyllic Old Town. Lunch on your own.
Embark your boat to reach the second island: Vulcano. Unlike Lipari, famous for its volcanoes, Vulcano’s star attraction are its mud baths. Perhaps use your time on the island to relax at one of the mud baths or take a dip in the warm seas and simply bask on the beach. Return back to Milazzo by boat and meet your driver. Return transfer to Taormina. Overnight stay.
DAY 10: DEPARTURE
Breakfast at the hotel. Private transfer to Catania airport and departure. Arrivederci!
