September 2022

Buongiorno Emanuela,

Yes, we made it home safely, but I have to admit that a part of me wished we had complications with our flight and had to stay longer.

We are now adjusting to being back to reality.  Back to our somewhat boring repetitious days.  I will try to relive some of it by having some friends over this Thursday to relive and share some Italian treats and memories.

Yes, we definitely brought home many amazing memories.  For myself, I’m glad we got to see some of Florence.  I did not realize how beautiful the city is and how wonderful the people are. One of the best gelatos we had too, Dei Niri.  The best gelato was in San Gimignano at Dondoli.  (I just love saying the name of that town.)  The Duomo was spectacular. And our hotel was in a GREAT location and we were able to walk and walk and walk and never got bored!  And the rooftop bar was great.  Before dinner, we enjoyed an aperitif with a nice view of the city and sunset.  Our tour guide was wonderful and would recommend her.  Our drivers were great while in Tuscany.  Very different personalities which added to the experience.  Our favorite driver, however, was Johnathan.  He went above and beyond.

Tuscany is probably the most romantic place on earth.  Our Farmhouse was charming/romantic/amazing.  Our three rooms were all different and charming in their own way. The breakfast was wonderful!   I got some of the best sunset pictures and amazing landscape pictures too.  And then there’s the wine.  Wonderful, wonderful wine!  We enjoyed all the vineyards we went to.  The wine, food, and staff/family were wonderful and very welcoming.  Along with the vineyards you scheduled, which all had their highlights, our driver (Johnathan) took us to Poggio Amorelli.  Very, very friendly staff/family.  We only ordered 12 bottles from this winery 😉  And one of the highlights from these three days was that we now realize there are some amazing Chianti Classico Reserve wines.

Our days in Sorrento were wonderful!!  The hotel Corallo was very nice.  Amazing views!  And we had a wonderful meal the first night at the hotel, which ended with spectacular fireworks.  In commemoration of the holiday.
We scheduled a Lemon Grove tour through the hotel which I highly recommend, Azienda agricola La Masseria. Great family!! And the food mama cooked us was out so good.
Capri was amazing!  Loved our captain and 1st mate, Flavio and Lucca.  They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the tour, even serving us prosecco and beer. And we lucked out and just made it in the Blue Grotto (it closed right after we exited, due to high water).  The water was very choppy that day, however, the captain pushed on and we got to see the whole island from the boat.  AMAZING!!!
Our cooking class in the hills of Sorrento was a lot of fun Chef Gargiulo was great, a very funny man!  His picking us up in the 3-wheel truck, to the tour of his property, was very enjoyable.

Our hotel in Rome was comfortable, but a bit dated.  The location was great!  We enjoyed our tours.  Rome is an amazing city.  Brad and I ventured to Trastevere and had a great experience there.  And the family enjoyed a fabulous meal at Alfredo Alla Scrofa. We also got to experience frozen expresso near the Pantheon.  Really good!!

Italy is a paradise!  Thank you for helping us experience some of its beauty and showing us what makes Italy so amazing. We had a wonderful time exploring Italy and we look forward to seeing more of it in the near future.

Grazie millie!
