Reflective Echo Pavilion at Palazzo Litta

DAY TRIP

Reflective Echo Pavilion at Palazzo Litta

Looking for an immersive visual experience at the Milan Design Week 2019? Then Palazzo Litta is the place to be. Mirrors, reflection and illusions created by Pezo von Ellrichshausen will disconnect you for a moment from the busy Milan.

This open air site-specific installation is a direct eco of its historical surroundings. Made of polished stainless steel, both vertical and inclined panels reflect in a dramatic way the baroque architecture of the palazzo. The iconic Milanese building appears both receded and expanded, visible and invisible, solid and ethereal.

The Ellrichshausen’s giant Eco Pavilion itself appears at the center of the Litta’s courtyard as a magic open box. In its radical simplicity, it seems to be a mirage. Nonetheless its monumental shape it appears to be immaterial.

And finally, just like the icing on the cake, by looking up admiring Eco Pavilion, visitors will be surprised to spot themselves instead of the object they’ve been actually looking at.
